The Vision Specialists Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that is 100% privately funded through donations. Our mission is two-fold:
- To help those with financial needs who desperately need care to improve their quality of life due to Binocular Vision Dysfunction (BVD); and
- To provide funding for research and educational programs that will help others recognize and understand BVD.
It is through education that we hope to eliminate hurdles that block proper diagnosis and treatment for millions of Americans each year (including hundreds of thousands of veterans).
What is BVD?
When you suffer from chronic headaches, anxiety, nausea, and more it takes you away from the people and the activities that you love. When you have visited multiple doctors, attempted countless treatments, taken a variety of medications and none of them work, your issue may actually be your vision. At Vision Specialists of Michigan, we work with countless patients who struggle with these symptoms. The condition that is the visual cause of these symptoms is called Binocular Vision Dysfunction. It is the result of a person’s eyes being subtly out of alignment.
When one or both or your eyes are misaligned it can cause you to have blurred, shadowed, or possibly doubled vision. Your body attempts to correct this by straining your eye muscles to keep your eye sight in focus. This constant battle of misalignment and realignment causes many of your symptoms. In order to find relief, the Binocular Vision Dysfunction must be treated.
What is needed?
VSF seeks to raise $300,000 in funding to launch nation’s first major treatment study of the impact of micro-prism lenses on treating BVD. Click here to learn more.
